CLAUDIA JACOBS LIVE IN THE LOBBY
Another great evening of Local Original Music Live in the Lobby at the Patchogue Theatre presents
an evening of original music with CLAUDIA JACOBS and special guest ROUGH FOLK
Thursday, FEBRUARY 3 at 7:30 pm.
CLAUDIA JACOBS' voice and presence ride a wave from low-down bluesy to sweet and sassy which led one of her fans to brand her "a Hardcore Angel." She is very comfortable on stage and her audience knows that she's real happy to be there with them, sharing a moment; her concerts never disappoint. Currently, she is in the studio finishing-up her long-awaited full length CD "Rally On" and planning her support tour throughout the Eastern Seaboard. The CD reflects her wide range of influences from Alternative Country, Folk and Jazz, to R & B, Bluegrass and Blues. Featured on the CD is Composer and Professor of music Dr. Dan Weymouth serving up some '70's soul style organ and piano; on electric and slide guitar, author of "Project Studio Blueprint" and owner of NY's Soundsurfr Studios Greg Galluccio; protégé of world renowned trombonist Ray Anderson and new member of the world renowned brass quintet Synergy, Tristan Eggener on tuba and bass; Bakithi Kumalo's drummer Mark Portugal and a special appearance by guitar virtuoso Steve Rothery of the popular UK band Marillion. Opening the show is Rough Folk. It's no surprise that HANK STONE has been hailed as one of Long Island's best songwriters. His memorable hooks and melodies, "two notes and you know it's Hank" guitar style and uncanny ability to tell a story with a song make the emotional impact of his music both immediate and compelling. Known primarily as a solo artist, Hank recently joined forces with long-time friends TODD EVANS and MIKE CHRISTIAN to create the band Rough Folk.
Now in it's sixth season, Live in the Lobby takes place usually on the First Thursday of the month at the Patchogue Theatre. The series was started during the 2005-2006 Patchogue Theatre season by a group of volunteer music lovers who created a "venue within a venue" as an alternative performance space to the 1200 seat PTPA main stage that is Suffolk County's largest theater. Every month the volunteers convert the beautiful art deco lobby into a small concert hall with seating for 50 and standing room for another 50. The room is comfortable, the acoustics are great refreshments are served at the bar. Live in the Lobby has become recognized as one of the best venues for original music on Long Island, presenting a wide variety of music from genres such as rock, folk, funk, jazz, bluegrass, Latin, blues, Celtic and R&B, with the emphasis on original music by Long Island artists.
